Many students choose to take on a part time job whilst at university. Often, they don’t have any choice. School can be incredibly expensive, and the rising costs of living don’t make things any easier. Some people may even choose to return to education to help them further their business, with a course such as an MBA degree online, and have to continue to work full time whilst studying. It can be exceptionally difficult to manage both, however it is by no means impossible. So, whether you just want a part-time job for a little extra cash, or you need to continue working full-time for the good of your career or business, here are some great tips to help you do it.

Online Study

If you are already at university or college and struggling, it might be worth speaking to your tutors about the possibility of studying some of your classes online. If you haven’t started yet, but are considering further education, online courses such as those from Pepperdine University offer much more flexibility than in school courses. Many people worry about organizing their time when studying online, but time management tips for students are freely available from the university.

Be Organized

Organization will be exceptionally important to you. Write down any classes and deadlines, shifts, and anything else you need to do. Often people find it easier to stay organized with a physical diary, or even a wall chart, rather than having everything in their smart phones.

Plan Things in Advance

Make sure you know of any deadlines as far in advance as possible. Don’t just write them in your diary and hope for the best. Book time off work, or ask for shorter shifts if possible. Another great thing to do is to write an action plan to help you meet your deadline. Also, be sure to book time off for any exams, and build yourself a revision planner, so you know what you need to study, when and for how long. Apps can be a powerful revision aid.

Take Some Time Out

Taking a break, and having a bit of me time, is vitally important when you are trying to do a lot. Getting stressed and burnt out, will lead to you being unable to concentrate, or tired and possibly even unwell. Take the occasional day off both work and study to have some fun and recharge your batteries.

Look After Yourself

Equally, you’re not going to be able to cope if you don’t look after yourself day to day. Try to get eight hours sleep wherever you can. Eat a healthy balanced diet, with plenty of energy boosting snacks, and drink 8 glasses of water every day. Make sure to try and get some exercise too, even if it’s just a brisk walk. Exercise and fresh air are great for not only your physical health, but also your mood.

Following these tips should help you be both a successful student, and a profitable worker while managing to enjoy, and give your best, to both.
